Institute Librarian

JOB PURPOSE

To manage and administer the INSTITUT SINARAN Library in the provision of information and lending services, library facilities including the sick bay. This customer-centric role requires the professional engagements with students offering prompt services and maintaining a conducive environment in a Library meant for the millennials. The Librarian is also required to build effective and sustainable relationships with academic staff to optimise their engagement with the Library’s resources and to contribute and collaborate colleagues at both Institutional Events and external Audits from Ministry of Education, the Malaysian Qualification Agency and other Regulatory bodies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in a relevant field in librarianship, information management;

  • Extensive experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;

  • Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Prior experience in the provision of information literacy skills programs, including ability to teach the use of electronic resources to students and/or academic staff.

  2. English language universal classification systems:

       a) Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC);
       b) Library of Congress Classification (LCC);
       c) Colon classification(CC);
       d) Universal Decimal Classification (UDC)

  • Highly developed communication skills, including the ability to prepare documentation, to effectively liaise and resolve issues with a wide range of clients, and to communicate effectively and collaboratively with supervisor, staff and colleagues across campuses.

  • Sound organisational, time management and administration skills including the ability to set priorities for self and for staff, to perform well under pressure and to work independently and as a team member.

  • Interest for and capacity to engage with innovative technologies in teaching and learning environments.

  • Management experience in Private Tertiary Education Institution Library resource requirements in terms of Regulatory and Statutory bodies and Agencies.

  • Working knowledge and experience in dealings with Malaysian Ministry, Agencies and Regulators especially MOHE, JPT, MQA, KDN.

  • Working knowledge and experience in MOHE-MQA programme development process, MQA COPPA and COPIA documentation, KPT Compliance Audit, Accreditation process and Institutional Audit.

  • Working knowledge and experience in the operational execution of Collaborative arrangement with industry leaders & Franchise partnerships at the Tertiary Education level.

  • Working knowledge and experience of Microsoft OS, workstation, desktop, mobile device and Internet technologies.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge and Experience in working in Internal Quality Audit and Institutional level Quality Management System;

  • Working Knowledge of Protocols for Malaysian Society and Government Official Functions.

Head of Campus Facilities & Security Management Office

JOB PURPOSE

Facility & Security management:
Lead and manage the facilities maintenance and operations of Institut Sinaran Campus Building and Grounds with provisions of ongoing and periodical maintenance and upgrades, identify & rectify defects and plan & budget for required extensive repairs, liaison with appointed Architect and main contractor for campus renovation works. 

Manage the deployment of all Security staff of the Institute and ensure that all Security task are executed promptly.

Safety and Health Committee:
Function as the Secretary for the Institut Safety & Health Committee and coordinate the necessary functions of the committee to ensure compliances to the 
•    Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 [Act 514];
•    Occupational Safety and Health (Safety and Health Committee) Regulations 1996

​MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in Building management / Safety and Health;

  • Has more than 5 years working experience; preferably in Campus Building and Facilities management;

  • Have working knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health in the Service Sector;

  1. Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 [Act 514] 

  2. Occupational Safety and Health (Safety And Health Committee) Regulations 1996 

  3. Have operational experience in managing Company’s Safety and Health Committee.

  • Have operational experience in managing building’s Central Fire Alarm Console and Fire-Fighting System;

  • Good verbal and written command of English, National Language and Mandarin, as well as good communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
