Institut Sinaran's Open Day

¡¡

The Institut Sinaran Open Day was held on Sunday, 27th July 2008.  Students assembled on campus early in the morning to make last minute touch up to their exhibits. The Open Day began with the arrival of YBhg. Datuk Yong Kyok Ming, Chairman of Board of Governors Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School and Institut Sinaran. Once everyone is seated after the singing of ¡°Negaraku¡±, YBhg Datuk Yong delivered his welcoming speech and officiated Institut Sinaran Open Day cum Tshung Tsin Education Fair 2008. Mdm Lim Khoon Chin accompanied YBhg Yong and other guests to tour Sabah Tshung Tsin International Education Fair, IS exhibitions, bazaar and Inter-School Environmental Board Games Design Contest.

There were 15 entries from 8 schools involving 99 students have been received for the Inter- School Environmental Board Games Design Contest. The first prize with RM 700 was won by one of the entries by KK High School, second prize with RM500 was won by SM All Saints and third prize with RM200 was won by SM La Salle.

The Bazaar group had done their job well. Uncle Bob¡¯s chicken seemed to have achieved some sort of legendary status among visitors. Stomach-wise, the visitors were well taken care of.  Things were looking equally good in the exhibition rooms. Decor was all set up, and some of the rooms carried their own themes. The Maths group being themed around the Egyptians (widely regarded as the pioneer mathematicians) and the Physics exhibition being themed around Light (the room was ironically dark!). The various groups had spent days grinding their presentations into their heads, and were more than ready to present -- over and over again. Talking about the oil price hikes or even explaining probability concepts repeatedly for hours isn¡¯t easy, and so the Institute extends its commendations to the students who charmed each and every visitor who came to their exhibits.
